Case Study

Liquip recently supplied a custom coloured and sized Fibrelite access cover and a Liquip built frame that was installed at a leading Port authority location in far-north Australia.

Project Overview

As part of a renovation at the NQ Ports Marina, a simple access solution was required to provide a safe method to regularly access a water service pit for draining and maintenance purposes. Our composite trench covers were specified for the service pit due to the manual handling issues experienced with the previously installed reinforced concrete covers that were identified as an occupational health and safety concern.

The Problem

The original concrete cover required the use of a small crane to access the water service pit. This meant during draining and maintenance the area around the pit was not useable and the cost of each service was adding up.

The Solution

Liquip worked closely with Fibrelite to specify custom designed composite covers that provided light weight access to the water service pit whilst blending in with the surrounding terrain. Being lightweight, meant these covers can be safely and quickly removed using the ergonomically designed FL7A lifting handles.

Additionally, Liquip designed and built custom framework in our Sydney manufacturing facility to secure and house the covers on site. This framework was designed to be easily integrated into a newly installed concrete plinth.

Coloured Trench Covers

An important requirement for this customer was that the trench covers were in a colour that matched the surrounding area. Any style logo or other marking can be permanently moulded into the upper surface of the cover in single or multiple colours. For additional brand or product identification, or to blend in with the colour or layout of a facility, Liquip can work with its partners to mould composite covers in nearly any colour or combination of colours.

Innovative. Durable. Practical. Proven.
