Custom Hydraulic and Electric Driven Drum or Cartwheel Aviation Hosereels

Liquip custom built hosereel assemblies for static applications to suit customers specific requirements. Our reels can be driven via various mechanisms. They are typically designed to be hydraulic over electric.
Our custom reels are designed to rewind aviation hose safely and efficiently in a dangerous environment. They are supplied as a component to be installed in a complete solution/restricted area.
As such, Liquip will provide a GA drawing for sign off to ensure compliance with site specific guarding requirements.
Our reels are available in either drum or cartwheel style.
Liquip’s custom hosereels will require the operator to provide significantly less force in unwinding the hose than any of it’s chain driven alternatives, thus significantly reducing the potential for back injury to the operator.

- The frames are fabricated from steel and are hot dip galvanised to accommodate all components.
- Electric motor drive is provided by a 3 Phase, Class 1, Zone 1 explosion proof ex-d electric motor and runs through a single-to-three phase variable speed inverter. Note: Liquip’s custom reels includes mounting of the electric motor. The variable control box is supplied as a separate unit and must be installed by an authorised and qualified electrician.
- Operation of the reel is simple, requiring a push of the start/stop switch or lever to rewind the hose. Our variable speed drive ensures flexibility and rewind speed control and a ramp up feature on the inverter that allows the motor some time to go from rest to full speed, so fine control is available over the final portion of the hoses journey by toggling the switch to “inch” the hose in.
- On our drum style reels power is transmitted to the reel by an anti-static timing belt. This eliminates the need for a chain drive, therefore no metal to metal contact is present. This eliminates the possibility of a spark caused by chain lash. To minimize the possibility of catching fingers in the belt drive, the unit may be purchased specifying either a hinged full cover or a belt guard. The hinged cover features a polycarbonate window in the top, and hose roller guides in the front. It covers the entire unit when lowered.
