About Liquip International USA
Beta Fluid Systems Inc.
1209 Freeway Drive, Reidsville, NC 27323 USA
Beta Fluid Systems was formed in 1972 producing Military refueling equipment including filter vessels, refueling hydrant trucks and refueling carts. Competing successfully in this market through the 1970’s, Beta then developed a commercial fuelling offering supplying Narrow Body refueling carts and Commercial hydrant dispensers.
In 2006 Liquip International acquired Beta to leverage the companies’ respective strengths in military and commercial refuelling. The addition to the group of Beta Fluid Systems in 2006 provided Liquip with the opportunity to expand its reach with the same design culture that had made Liquip a preferred supplier of oil companies in Australia, New Zealand, Pacific Islands, Asia and the Middle East.
The core competencies that this acquisition brought Liquip within the defense sector, and the ability to leverage our global experience in the US commercial sector made this a very important and successful acquisition.
Beta’s quality and ability to deliver on its commitments coupled with Liquip’s acknowledged global standard of refueling equipment manufacturing has allowed the business to expand 3 fold in the past 2 years. Since 2006, capacity has tripled with staff levels increased from approximately 50 to 120 readying the predominantly military business for expansion within the commercial fuelling sector.
Our customers continue to enjoy the high quality the Beta brand has provided for 35 years. A strict adherence to a quality system is something our customers have come to expect from Beta. As a major military contractor this quality program shines through on every Beta product and it’s the pride our staff have which produces this. Many hundreds of year’s worth of knowledge strengthen and support the company through the employees that have stayed for this new stage of the Beta – Liquip journey. In fact, staff numbers have grown rapidly to cope with our expansion, today employment at Liquip International is based on expertise and pride of workmanship. Employees now join us from many parts of the USA as Liquip searches far and wide for highly skilled specialists who are a good attitudinal fit in each area of our business.
Liquip International has invested heavily in North Carolina and will continue to improve our state of the art facility. We will leverage our excellence in design to provide new efficiencies to the commercial aviation sector whilst continue to grow our military business. In particular Research and Development will play an important part in our quest to lead the global Aviation Refueling market with new vehicle types built to suit specific products and to meet customer requirements.
Global Practices
As a company with a global perspective, the Liquip product offering is unique to the North American market. We are introducing positive product enhancements in terms of performance, reliability, ergonomics and safety. Many of the reliability and safety features originate from our global experience in manufacturing refueling equipment for harsh and remote operating conditions in the Middle East, Australia and remote pacific islands where equipment survives in harsh conditions and needs to exist with minimal support.
One such product developed by Liquip to reduce manual labor in the refueling process is Diptronic — an electronic, real-time device for fuel-level measurement. Designed for use in mobile refueling tankers, the device records fuel levels 240,000 times per second, offering users a constant, accurate measurement of tank contents. Diptronic offers several benefits on the tarmac, including safety and efficiency by removing the need to get on top of the tank. Programmable alert levels can be used to provide primary overfill protection and the Diptronic system can also promote overall efficiency.
Beta has also focused on reducing maintenance requirements. For example for cold weather locations we have switched from air systems to electronic or fuel-over fuel systems, which conserve valuable time on the ramp during frigid weather, preventing delays. Moisture within the air can freeze in cold climates and render the equipment useless during cold snaps. An electronic management system for the vehicle completely avoids this scenario.
The Future
Liquip USA is committed to continuing to develop and refine its commercial refuelling competencies while building on its already enviable record in military aircraft refuelling. We look forward to being of service to you.
